More Reasons to Keep Your Trees Pruned

I have heard people say how it’s a jungle out there. I never thought it would apply to our front yard. We had really let the trees go too long before pruning them. If it wasn’t fixing the car or getting braces for one of the kids, it was something else. We kept putting it off, and now we had branches falling all the time. Not big ones, but a lot of little ones. Our trees needed pruned back so their canopies did not touch. I called a tree service in Nassau County to come out and do the job. I did not want any algae growing on the porch roof because of it being in shade under the trees every day, and I did not want the squirrels to use the branches close to the gutter as a highway to the porch roof. When I saw one up there, I knew it was time to scale back the trees in our front yard.

The squirrels would try to get up on the main roof because they could see the vents to the attic at the eves. They are screened behind the louvers, but it would not be long before we had squirrels in our attic if we did not trim the trees. My wife chuckled at that statement telling me I have had squirrels in my attic since she met me. I really cannot disagree with that one, but I guess it is better than having bats in my belfry! Anyway, the tree service in Nassau County told me that ants like to use the branches as access points to the house too. It is like a shortcut to places they can get in. Plus, some ant species are destructive. I did not think that keeping the trees trimmed was wise for more than just the reason of not wanting them to fall over.
